Description

These **Nana’s Oatmeal Cookies are a truly comforting classic baked treat filled with soft oats, chewy raisins, and crunchy walnuts, all brought together with hints of warm cinnamon and fragrant nutmeg! They are an irresistible taste of home that feels just like childhood memories!

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup (172 grams) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup (205 grams) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups (245 grams) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon (3 grams) ground cinnamon
  • ¾ teaspoon (4 grams) baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon (1 gram) ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon (1 gram) kosher salt
  • 2 cups (185 grams) old fashioned oats
  • 1 cup (155 grams) raisins
  • 1 cup (125 grams) chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Warm your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until the mixture is pale and fluffy. This should take about two minutes. Add the two eggs and mix until everything is well combined.
  3. In a separate medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, cinnamon, baking soda, nutmeg, and salt. Stir in the oats until they are evenly distributed.
  4. Add the dry ingredients mixture to the wet ingredients. Mix just until they are combined. Stir in the chopped walnuts and raisins until they are fully incorporated throughout the dough.
  5. Use a medium cookie scoop that holds about 2 tablespoons to portion the dough into balls. Place the dough balls onto the prepared baking sheet. Leave about one inch of space between them. Gently press down on the top of each dough ball to slightly flatten it.
  6. Bake the cookies for 10 to 15 minutes.
